Bravo Taiwan...
From Taiwan Representative Office in Ireland
It was announced today, June 24th, by the Irish Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform that as of July 1st 2009, the Irish Government will be extending to nationals of Taiwan visa-free entry.
Representative David Nan-yang Lee welcomed the Irish Government’s decision and said that it “would make Ireland a much more convenient and appealing destination” for Taiwanese nationals to visit. He stated his belief that the people of both countries share an affinity and “could now look forward to greater and more frequent interaction on a wider scale… I hope that the people of Taiwan will embrace the opportunity to visit Ireland and experience the warmth and hospitality that I have enjoyed here”.
While there is already a Taiwanese community resident in Ireland, it is anticipated that today’s move will see greater numbers visiting Ireland each year and an upsurge in students, tourists and businessmen with trade figures and co-operative ventures rising accordingly. Trade volume between Ireland and Taiwan has stood at a very considerable €1 billion, and while this might not be expected to increase immediately in the current economic climate today’s decision should go some way towards ensuring its future growth.
